SFPC Ambassador Japan

We are proud to introduce Demetra Betterson our SFPC Ambassador for Japan, a dedicated and purpose-driven individual currently pursuing a Master’s in Environmental Law & Politics while participating in the SDG Global Leader Program 2024, an initiative by JICA. She brings a strong commitment to sustainable development, combining academic rigor with a passion for creating meaningful impact.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Anton de Kom University of Suriname, she aims to leverage her studies and experiences in Japan to advance sustainable forest management, reforestation, and the development of impactful environmental policies in Suriname.

As she shares:
"One of my goals is to raise awareness of this valuable program among Surinamese students and inspire them to pursue opportunities abroad, creating a ripple effect of growth and impact."

Now based in Japan, she is ready to learn, lead, and share valuable insights from this transformative chapter. Through her role as SFPC Ambassador Japan, she exemplifies global leadership and serves as an inspiration for Surinamese students seeking to make a difference on the world stage.
